Rena spent more than a decade performing on Broadway, Off-Broadway and stages & screens across the country, building a career rooted in music, character, storytelling and, often, humor. She made her Broadway debut as Cosette in Les Misérables, with favorite roles including Belle in Beauty and the Beast and Tzeitel in the national tour of Fiddler on the Roof opposite Topol, Harvey Fierstein and Theo Bikel.

Rena also had the privilege of spending time with comedy legends Mel Brooks and Sid Caesar, experiences that inspired a memoir she is currently writing about them. Those relationships reinforced something she continues to bring from the stage to the Bima: humor has an extraordinary way of connecting people. Her career has also included television, film, voice-over and work as an award-winning recording artist. Explore more of Rena’s entertainment career.

DEEPER PURPOSE.
Over the last seven years, Rena has gradually shifted her life from entertainment to Jewish leadership. What began as a return to her own Jewish faith became something deeper when she saw how music and ritual could help people connect, heal and feel less alone.

She realized that the same voice she had spent years using to entertain could also be used in service to others.
Today, she serves on the clergy teams at Burbank Temple Emanu El and Bayit Shelanu. She leads Shabbat Services, high holidays and officiates Bar and Bat Mitzvahs, helping families mark important moments in Jewish life.​ As a Cantorial Soloist, Jewish wedding officiant and chaplaincy student, Rena brings counseling, support, teaching and a deep understanding of the role ritual can play in both joyful and difficult moments.

Rena is also the North American conductor for the Israeli singing sensation Koolulam.
